About Us

Although we started out as ‘big city dwellers’ Philip and I, along with our children Bruce, Nathan, Matthew and Danielle dreamed of the idyllic rural lifestyle. Many years ago we owned an olive grove in the Awatere Valley in Marlborough and spent weekends commuting back and forth from our home base in Wellington to our rural lifestyle block.

But we wanted something more.

After seeing some Alpacas at a neighbouring farm we became enchanted with these beautiful creatures and soon after were well on our way to achieving our dream.

In 2003 we purchased our first Alpaca ‘Snow Dream’ who within a month had a female cria. After that we had to buy some suitable land. The Canterbury Plains seemed like a good place to start.

We purchased our 17 acres in Springston South after seeing great potential in the block. Our herd size grew as we purchased six pregnant females from Australia and several more from here in New Zealand, both Huacaya and Suri. We continued carefully purchasing and breeding animals that would improve the genetic value of our herd to get to the stage we are today.

We also purchased a shareholding in a magnificent full Accoyo sire. We are impressed with his offspring and he has brought a lot of genetic diversity to the herd.

We are both active supporters of the Alpaca Association of NZ, and are the current convenors of the Alpaca section of the Ellesmere A and P show.

It is almost impossible to overstate the value the Alpacas add to our lifestyle. They’re gentle, very serene, magnificent animals. Most people who see them fall in love with them.

We encourage you to come out to our farm and see for yourself.
